COMMUNITY EVENTS SENATOR OFFICE HOURS Senator Lindsey Williams’ staff will hold office hours in the Shaler Township Municipal Building, 2nd floor every Monday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. SENIORS FOR SAFE DRIVING ONE DAY REFRESHER COURSE Hosted by Rep. Lori Mizgorski Thursday, September 5, 2019 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Shaler Township Municipal Building The course is for drivers 55 years or older. The fee is $16.00 payable to Seniors for Safe Driving. This course is for participants who have successfully completed the “first time” course. Refresher courses are required every three years after the “first time” course. Participants will receive a minimum 5% discount on their auto insurance. The course is classroom instruction only, no exam will be given. SPAGHETTI DINNER Saturday, September 14 4:00 to 7:00 PM Elfinwild Presbyterian Church Hosted by the Elfinwild Lions Club. Prices are: Seniors $7, Adults $8, Children, 6-12 $5, Children under 6 eat free. The dinner includes salad, spaghetti (choice of sausage, beef or veggie sauce), breadstick, beverage and dessert. SENIOR EXPO Friday, September 27 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Allison Park Church, 2326 Duncan Avenue This event is a great opportunity for senior citizens to obtain a wide variety of information pertaining to the programs and services that may be beneficial to them. Flu shots will be provided by Rite Aid to seniors who wish to receive them depending on availability. Those wishing to receive a flu vaccine must present their Medicare card. Trick or Treat Hours Thursday, October 31, 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wear reflective tape on costumes. Use glow sticks or flashlights when walking on the streets. LEAF & YARD WASTE COLLECTION OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER During Leaf Collection there is no need to schedule as the entire community will be serviced for Leaf and Yard Waste Collection on the dates below: Saturday, October 12 Saturday, October 19 Saturday, October 26 Saturday, November 2 n Saturday, November 9 Saturday, November 16 Saturday, November 23 Saturday, December 7 Yard waste includes: leaves, garden residue, shrubbery with no dirt attached, limbs, twigs, brush and tree trimmings, and similar items, but does not include grass clippings or mulch. n Yard waste must be placed in a bio-degradable paper bag.
