The Private Industry Council of Westmoreland / Fayette , Inc ( PIC ) has a positive partnership with Shaler Area School District . They know it ’ s important to you that your child is equipped to be successful in school and they can give your three or four-year-old a boost . Shujuane L Martin , CEO / President of PIC stated , “ Giving children the opportunity to participate in high-quality pre-school services gives them a competitive edge , not only in education but for tomorrow ’ s future workforce . “ The PA Pre-K Counts program provides highquality pre-kindergarten education for three and four-year-olds living in Pennsylvania . This program is offered at no cost to families that qualify . For the 2024-25 school year , a family of 4 can make up to $ 93,600 a year and still qualify for these services . The program is funded by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning ( OCDEL ). Currently , there are four Pre-K Counts classrooms located in Shaler Area School District at Burchfield , Marzolf , Reserve and Scott primary schools . According to Natalie Schweizer , Pre-K Counts Manager , “ It ’ s a win-win for children , families and the school districts where we have a partnership .”
