GLENSHAW CENTURY CLUB The ladies of the Club lovingly hand-crafted over 320 Caring Bears that were distributed to the new kindergarten students at all four Shaler Area primary schools , as well as Blessed Trinity Academy . We received wonderful feedback from the parents of how their little ones were thrilled to get their bears on the first day of school . The Club ladies also made fabric bear baskets filled with school supplies for the kindergarten teachers and the building secretaries .
Our annual Holiday House Tour & Craft Fair will be held on Saturday , November 9th from 10am-3pm . The Craft Fair will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church ( 1719 Mount Royal Boulevard ) and will include a Gourmet Bake Sale , Raffles , and Refreshments , along with 60 + local crafters and vendors . We will be providing a shuttle to the three houses on the tour that will pick up at the church . Admission to the Craft Fair is free . House tour tickets are $ 25 in advance and can be purchased online , or $ 30 the day of .
We will once again be selling our Lottery Calendar Tickets . They are $ 10 each , good for the whole month of January 2025 , and make great gifts & stocking stuffers ! Club members will be selling tickets at the Dollar Tree on Mount Royal this fall .

SHALER TOWNSHIP PARKS & RECREATION MASTER PLAN
In May 2024 , the Kiwanis Park Focus Group recommended to the Shaler Township Board of Commissioners that they seek Requests for Proposals ( RFP ) for a Parks and Recreation Master Plan . The objective of this plan is to establish a reasonable Parks & Recreation Master Plan that is applicable to the current and projected conditions in Shaler Township to guide the Township for the next ten to fifteen ( 10-15 ) years for the development , management , facility review , staffing , budgeting and maintenance of the Shaler Townships parks and recreation
department , as well as address funding and the equitable allocation of resources .
The RFP was posted on May 15 , 2024 , and proposals were accepted until July 15 , 2024 . The Board interviewed 3 finalists and awarded the project to OHM at the September Board of Commissioners Meeting . The cost of this plan will be largely funded by a grant the Township is receiving through the PA Department of Community & Economic Development . The grant was made possible with the help of Senator Lindsey Williams and her staff .
The Township will keep residents updated throughout this process and let you know about possible future plans .

SHALER AREA ROTARY CLUB
The Shaler Area Rotary Club wrapped up our annual fall golf outing fundraiser and we wanted to thank all of the sponsors and golfers who supported us to make the event successful . At the outing , we recognized Dave Fitzsimmons , Carl Funtal , Alex Kline , Larry Bock , and Bob Neely with Paul Harris fellowships to thank them for their many years of community service . Our club continues to address food insecurity in our community and we pledged a $ 5000 donation to support the Shaler Backpack Initiative which provides single serve food items placed in student backpacks for those participating in the program and we continue to support local food banks . We are always looking for community service projects or to provide help where needed in the community . New members welcomed .
