RESTROOM PROJECT UPDATE
Shaler North Hills Library is very excited to begin the installation of a new first-floor restroom and the rehabilitation of the secondfloor restrooms. As we go to press, It is expected some work will have begun with the removal of our old book dumbwaiter and the gutting of our downstairs storage room. The large print room will be reorganized for access to the collection. There will be lots of noise and dust! We appreciate your patience as we work through this amazing project that will benefit so many.

Tax Forms, Tax Information and Local Senior Citizen Tax Preparation— The Federal Income Tax and PA Income Tax filing deadlines are Tuesday, April 15. Visit the Library’ s website at www. shalerlibrary. org for valuable information on tax forms and tax assistance. Tax forms are available outside the library to the left of our entrance. We can print one copy of a tax form for free. Additional copies / pages are 20 cents.
Hungry Yinzers! The Pittsburgh Pierogi Truck will be in the library’ s front parking lot on Fridays through April 11 from 12:00 to 6:00 p. m. Pierogi, stuffed cabbage, and haluski hot and ready to eat! A portion of the proceeds benefits SNHL.

National Drug Take-Back Day— Saturday, April 26 from 10:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. In conjunction with the Shaler Township Police Department, the Library will serve as a collection site for any unused or expired prescription or over-the-counter medications and vaping cartridges in an environmentally safe way, as a drive-through in the library’ s rear parking lot.
Appraisal Fair— Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 a. m. to 4:00 p. m. Experts on collectibles, glass, pottery, historic items and more will be on hand to help assess your treasured items and give advice on how to better care for and conduct research on them. $ 6.00 fee for each item appraised or 3 items( maximum) for $ 15.00. This program is in partnership with the Heinz History Center via the History Center Affiliates Program( HCAP). Numbers will be given at the door as appraisals are done in the order people arrive. Please prepare to wait for your turn.

Floral Hoop Workshop— Friday, March 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. Make a beautifully decorated springtime floral hoop for your door with all supplies provided and the assistance of members of the Shaler Garden Club. Ukrainian Egg Decorating Demonstration— Friday, March 21 at 1:30 p. m. Pysanky is the ancient Eastern European art of egg decorating. Join Marilan( Hovanec) Caito who will demonstrate this art while lecturing on its tools, techniques and history. Dozens of beautiful eggs will be on display. Bonus! Ukrainian Egg Art Classes— Wednesdays: April 2 & 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 p. m. OR from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. for ages 18 +. In this hands-on class, students decorate their own Ukrainian eggs with one-on-one coaching from Marilan( Hovanec) Caito. No prior art skill needed.
