THE WALL THAT HEALS
Shaler Township was honored to host The Wall That Heals over Memorial Day Weekend. This incredible event included an escort, Welcome Home Ceremony, Candlelight Ceremony for Agent Orange Awareness, and a Memorial Day Service. Throughout the weekend, 12,000 visitors came to The Wall to pay their respects and 1,000 attended the Memorial Day Service.
To our volunteers:
We could not have hosted The Wall without you. There were over 300 volunteer time slots that needed filled and that was surpassed. Many volunteers came for their shift and stayed long after or decided to come back another day even when they weren’ t registered. Many expressed they were so moved by The Wall that they couldn’ t stay away.
To our sponsors: We cannot begin to express our appreciation for your donations of money, time, shuttles and even electricity.
To our residents:
Thank you for lining the streets of Shaler to give the welcome home the veterans never got, visiting The Wall at all hours to pay your respects, and for showing exactly what kind of community Shaler Township is.
And finally, a special thank you to:
