In 1932 , the Felician Sisters opened the doors of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy ( OLSH ) to 18 young women , all who aspired to become Sisters themselves . In the 90 years that followed , the Felician Sisters grew , advanced , and supported the school to assure a sustainable future , and made the decision to become co-ed in 1970 . OLSH welcomed a record 100 9th graders for the 2022-2023 school year .
As an independent ministry of the Felician Sisters , the school ’ s administration has been empowered to make decisions in the best interest of OLSH students , providing an educational experience full of opportunities and rooted in faith and values .
The school ’ s curriculum has grown to offer 17 AP courses to prepare students for college success , while offering support programs like the Advanced Learning & Leadership Initiative ( ALLI ) to help students who may have learning gaps and need remediation . The school ’ s remarkable facilities are fully updated and impeccably maintained . Classrooms are fully equipped with technology to allow collaboration and access to resources .
From successful sports programs to award-winning theatre arts , each student can discover and develop their passion at OLSH . This year the school opened a state-of-the-art piano lab , featuring nine electronic Yamaha keyboards equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity , which allows the instructor to work with all of the students individually . OLSH offers visual and performing arts courses , computer programming and engineering courses , and offers three full-scale theatre productions and two fine arts festivals featuring an art gallery and concert . Seventy percent of OLSH students play at least one of the 22 sports offered .
At the same time that students are prepared for success , they are formed by a solid foundation of faith and values . Students have the opportunity for weekly Eucharistic Adoration and confession , as well as weekly all-school Mass in the school ’ s beautiful chapel .
The Sisters ’ heritage lives on through the school ’ s emphasis on the Felician Core Values for Ministry : Respect for Human Dignity , Compassion , Transformation , Solidarity with People in Need , and Justice & Peace . Students learn to put these values into action throughout their time at OLSH .
Students at OLSH are well-prepared for the future thanks to a talented and dedicated faculty who maintain a nurturing , yet challenging learning environment .
