Saint James Catholic School celebrates over 100 years of Catholic education and service!

Located in Sewickley, Saint James School serves students in Allegheny County and Beaver County with the mission to provide a rigorous academic curriculum and faith-led education as part of the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
Saint James School leads with Catholic faith and values at the heart of each student’ s educational experience. While focusing on preparing students academically for high school and college, faculty weave faith and traditional values throughout classes and extracurricular experiences to build a strong foundation of faith that students can carry with them throughout their lives. Devout faculty and staff work to support each student’ s faith formation and strive to instill“ Excellent Minds and Exceptional Hearts” in every student.
Students at Saint James attend Mass together weekly and have daily and monthly opportunities for group prayer. Through their“ Buddy Program”, younger students are matched with an older buddy who encourages them in prayer, builds them up through planned activities, and serves as a role model.
Sacramental preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation is built into our students’ daily religion classes.
4th grader Leah G. receives communion at weekly mass.
Students are encouraged to put their faith into action by taking part in service projects that make a difference in local and international communities. Student groups and classes sponsor numerous charitable initiatives throughout the year to help those in need.

At St. James I learned how to balance all that I was doing which has helped me in high school with staying on top of my schoolwork, performing in my activities, and growing in my faith. Having a Catholic education gave me a foundation to grow in my relationship with Christ at such a young age. It allowed me to keep Christ at the center of my academics and sports, which has helped me to become who I am today.”
