AVONWORTH HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTS ‘ INTO THE WOODS ’
Avonworth High School presented a newly imagined production of “ Into the Woods ” this March . A deftly woven musical by Stephen Sondheim , “ Into the Woods ” takes audiences on a journey through the lives , loves , trials and tribulations of familiar fairy-tale characters — who by going into the woods , encounter some of life ’ s greatest difficulties and must fend for themselves .
Directed by longtime AHS teacher Deborah Frauenholz , the show involved nearly 90 students in all facets of production and played to sell-out houses . The ensemble nature of the story demands that actors be completely attuned to each other ’ s character portrayals , blending complex emotional struggles in the guise of childhood characters into a tapestry of hilarity and pathos .
