STEPHEN’S CLASSICAL ACADEMY St. Stephen’s Church in Sewickley has announced the launch and open enrollment of St. Stephen’s Classical Academy for the 2018-2019 school year with grades 1-3, then adding successive grades each year. The academy will follow the University Model, a hybrid of private education and homeschooling; students attend class four days per week for their core academic courses, and then do music, art and sports in the wider community. St. Stephen’s Classical Academy has been built on five core values: Virtuous Living, Affordability, Academic Excellence, Lifelong Learning and Integration with the Community. For more information and to enroll, visit ststephensacademy.net. 6TH ANNUAL WOODLAND FARMS LEMONADE STAND NEW NAME, SAME MISSION The 6th annual Woodland Farms Lemonade Stand will be held on Saturday, June 23, from noon to 4 p.m. It will be located at the corner of Pinkerton Road and Scarlet Circle in Wexford—right off Warrendale Road (the Red Belt). The lemonade will be fresh squeezed and icy cold. There will be no cost for the lemonade, but a donation is greatly appreciated. A home-baked cookie will be given to anyone who makes a donation. To date, the Woodland Farms Lemonade Stand has raised over $4,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand. The goal this year is to raise $1,200. About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) charity, has raised more than $140 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 690 pediatric cancer research projects nationally. In 2014, the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth established a high school on the Emsworth campus that had formerly housed the Holy Family Institute residential program. For the first three years of its existence, the school was known as Holy Family Academy. Starting this spring, it goes by a new name: Nazareth College and Career Prep. Some facts about the school’s decision and its ongoing mission: 1.
