COMMUNITY Family, Fitness and Fun Continued NEW PROGRAM YOUTH ACTING CLASS Winter Session ages 7 to 14 6-week class, starting January 5th Saturdays from 1-2pm Instructor: Hannah Moss Residents: $100 Non-Residents: $110 This introductory class is fantastic for those little ones with big personalities and even for children who are a little shy but would like to learn to open up! We will work on basic acting skills such as using your body, using your face and using your voice onstage. We will also learn about basic theatre terminology and how to take direction. By the end, actors will be familiar with the terminology and basic skills needed step on a stage! Spring Session ages 7 to 14 8 Week class, starting March 23rd No Class April 13th Instructor: Hannah Moss Residents: $130 Non-Residents: $140 In this class, actors will continue to learn how to use their bodies, faces and voices onstage as well as how to work in a group to put together a performance. We will develop the skills to prepare actors to audition for plays and also have an exciting showcase for friends and family in the end to practice performing in front of a live audience! This class is great for beginners and for children who are ready to take their acting to the next level NEW PROGRAM ACTING FOR THE STAGE Winter Session ages 15 to 115 6-week class, Starting January 5th Saturdays from 2-3:30pm Instructor: Hannah Moss Residents: $100 Non-Residents: $110 This introductory class is excellent for teens and adults who are hoping to build their skills and confidence to perform onstage. We will use a variety of activities to expose actors to the wide range of skills needed to act as either an amateur or a professional. This course covers voice work, body work and understanding the text. We will also cover some improvisation and auditioning skills to prepare actors to take their next step in theatre. Spring Session ages 15 to 115 8 Week class, starting March 23rd No Class April 13th Instructor: Hannah Moss Residents: $130 Non-Residents: $140 56 ROSS TOWNSHIP In this class, actors will delve further into understanding how to interact onstage, how to take direction, how to audition, and how to prepare for a live performance. We will tackle some monologues and short plays to get experience applying the skills and at the end we will present a showcase of actors work to a small invited audience. This is a great class for high school students who are interested in theatre as well as adults who may want to step on stage as an amateur or even a professional. About the instructor: Hannah Moss is an actor, director, producer, choreographer and playwright who has spent more than 25 years honing her craft as both an amateur and professional actor. After graduating from Indiana University-Bloomington with a BA in Theatre & Drama, Hannah and her husband David opened and managed the non-profit theatre company Theatre of The People in Bloomington, Indiana. After relocating to Pittsburgh, Hannah is looking forward to re-opening Theatre of the People and is excited to begin by teaching classes to help build the skills of all of the talented actors in the Ross Township Area. NEW PROGRAM ADULT AND TEEN SWING DANCE CLASS Winter Session ages 13 and up 6-week class, starting January 9th Wednesdays from 7-8pm Residents: $54 Non-Residents: $60 Swing dancing is a healthy combination of fun and exercise; and anyone can learn a basic swing to enjoy in social situations. This class is geared toward the beginner or non-dancer who is interested in being more comfortable on the dance floor. Bring a partner and join us! Biography: The instructor was a classically-trained ballet professional who explored and taught many different dance genres over her many years of teaching. Swing dancing was part of her childhood, as her parents were accomplished in it and taught her and her siblings in the living room of their home growing up. She followed this childhood love with formal ballroom lessons as an adult. Janet was the choreographer at North Hills High School and Junior High School for many years – and at Pine- Richland High School prior to that. She has taught at several dance studios here in Pittsburgh.
