N
orth Hills High School seniors Jordyn Hronec, Giovanni
Meiser, Connor Milavec and Neville Wolff have been
named 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program
semifinalists.
They represent four of the 16,000 students selected for the
nationwide honor. A total of 15,000 seniors will be announced
as Nat ional Merit Scholarship finalists in February and will have
an opportunity to compete for one of 8,300 National Merit
Scholarships.
Nationwide, semifinalists represent less than 1 percent of U.S.
high school seniors, and their ranks include the highest-scoring
entrants in each state. National Merit Scholarship semifinalists
account for one-third of the exam’s 50,000 high scorers.
Seniors Erika DeGraef, Adyn Gallagher, Alexis Mandell, Shane
Riley, Neil Wible and Greta Zewe were named Commended
Students in the program. They are among only 34,000
Commended Students throughout the nation to be recognized
with this academic accolade and scored in the top 5 percent of
entrants.
The National Merit program is an academic competition
for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High
