WHAT ’ S NEWS IN ROSS TOWNSHIP
GOLFING FOR DOGS !
No , the dogs won ’ t actually be playing golf , but people can make some dogs ’ lives much better by participating in the Great Pyrenees Charity Golf Tournament !
The tournament is held to benefit the Great Pyrenees Club of Western Pennsylvania , an allvolunteer organization . It ’ s an annual event that brings the community together to help with the rescue and rehabilitation of Great Pyrenees and other giant breeds , their medical expenses and rehoming .
The tournament will be held Aug . 26 at Edgewood Country Club in Churchill . There will be prizes for first , second and third place , as well as skill prizes . In addition to great golf on a lovely course , there will be dinner and a raffle .

THE MCKNIGHT WOMEN ’ S CLUB CELEBRATES ITS 70TH ANNIVERSARY
The McKnight Women ’ s Club celebrated its 70th anniversary on March 24 . Founded by women who were the original residents of the McKnight Village neighborhood , the objective of promoting social and philanthropic work still holds true today . The club organizes and supports many community activities , sponsors summer recreational programs for children , and works with the
McKnight Village Civic Association on neighborhood improvements .
Monthly meetings always feature a topic or activity that brings together multiple generations of women from inside and outside of the neighborhood . During the COVID-19 pandemic , the Women ’ s Club adjusted and offered no-contact ways to carry on its activities and children ’ s events using creative approaches . The ability to be flexible and move with the times has allowed the club to remain relevant and support more than 140 members .
The work of the McKnight Women ’ s Club makes the neighborhood a special place in the North Hills .
ROSS TOWNSHIP ’ S KURT FOLTZ WINS IRON CITY ROCKS ’ BEST BASS PLAYER AWARD
Local musician Kurt Foltz was named Best Bassist at the Iron City Rocks Pittsburgh Music Awards . Foltz grew up in Ross Township and attended North Hills High School . Congratulations !
GLENSHAW PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH TO HOLD FLEA MARKET AND BAKE SALE
Glenshaw Presbyterian Church will hold its Flea Market and Bake Sale on Saturday , July 20 , from 8 a . m . to 1 p . m ., rain or shine . Hot dogs and nachos will be for sale . TRI-STATE AREA MCDONALD ’ S RESTAURANTS TEAMED UP WITH THE PENGUINS FOR A CAUSE
Fans of the Pittsburgh Penguins found a new way to cheer on the team while also supporting an amazing local charity . And it scored in a big way !
At the beginning of the NHL season , McDonald ’ s restaurants across the tristate area teamed up with the Pens for a limited-time promotion : co-branded cold soft drink insulated sleeves . Local Mickey D ’ s sold the sleeves for $ 6 and a portion of the proceeds benefited Ronald McDonald House Charities ( RMHC ) of Pittsburgh and Morgantown .
The grand total ? $ 60,000 to support families who travel to Morgantown and Pittsburgh seeking lifesaving care for their children .
RMHC provides a home away from home for those families so they can focus on their children ’ s recovery .
“ I ’ m so pleased this promotion raised significant funds to underwrite the vital work RMHC is doing in the community ,” said McDonald ’ s owner / operator Art Alamo .
