THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE SERVE! A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE ROSS BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, JEREMY SHAFFER, PH.D. and your support would be much appreciated. Happy 75th Anniversary to Berkeley Hills Volunteer Fire Department This year marks the 75th anniversary of one of the largest and most active of our volunteer fire departments – Berkeley Hills. Situated right above the Siebert/ McKnight intersection, the members are extremely busy responding to commercial, residential, and traffic accident calls throughout the active McKnight corridor. Congratulations to Berkeley Hills and all its members - past and present – for their 75 years of service! Jeremy Shaffer, Ph.D. President, Ross Board of Commissioners (Ward 8) R oss Township is fortunate to have a great many people who serve the community so selflessly. From our military members and veterans to hundreds of volunteer firefighters, we are truly blessed! On behalf of the entire Board, I would like to thank all of those who serve us in so many ways, especially those who often remain unseen and unrecognized. Ross Township Volunteer Fire Departments, Fire Police, and EMS Could you imagine if you called 911, and there was no fire truck to dispatch? Fortunately, Ross Township has eight amazing volunteer fire departments and a special fire police service. These members give freely of their time to help keep us all safe and answer the call for those in the need. These volunteers are a wonderful asset, and we owe them our gratitude for their service. Please consider joining one of these organizations to help them fulfill their mission. Also, remember that many of these fire departments conduct various fundraising activities to fund needed equipment and other essential expenses, 40 Ross Township Many Lives Saved Through CPR/AED and First-Aid Training Did you know that CPR/AED and basic first-aid training is offered on a regular basis at Berkeley Hills Fire Department? I would like to give a big thank you to Ralph Pagone who has led this effort at Berkeley Hills and other locations for many years. He has trained over 60,000 people in these important life-saving skills – including my own family! Think of all the lives that have been saved through his committed efforts. Everyone should take one of these classes – and many of them are free. For more information look at www.station247.org under the “Public Training” link. Your Commissioners are here to serve you!
