Learn how to turn organic waste into a natural, homemade
compost for lawns and gardens by attending the Pennsylvania
Resources Council Backyard Composting Workshop.
Composting kitchen waste and yard debris is easy to do and
requires little time and effort. It also produces a complete and
natural food for the soil, improving its structure, water-retaining
abilities and overall health.
This PA Resources Council workshop thoroughly covers the
importance and benefits of composting, the process, setting up
a compost pile, proper maintenance, and ways of using finished
compost. Participants receive a FreeGarden EARTH compost bin
with attendance. This eighty-two gallon bin is ideal for urban/

VISIT THE FARMERS’ MARKET THIS
SUMMER (THROUGH OCTOBER)!
Wednesdays, 3 pm – 7 pm
This Farmer’s Market is a great example of promoting
sustainability in the community.
It sustains the produce and other food vendors by giving
them an outlet for their products. It sustains the citizens with
opportunities for fresh, locally grown produce and handmade
food items. And it helps St. John’s Church in its efforts to help
the Food Bank remain sustainable by providing healthy food to
those in need (proceeds and food items go to the North Hills Food
Bank).
