Special Programs A father and son wait patiently for the BIG ONE to bite! officers are on hand during this event to help with the labor of the events, but more importantly to interact with those attending, an important community relations effort that teaches children that the police are their friends. The event is conducted by members of the Ross Police Bicycle Patrol, who perform safety inspections on helmets and bicycles for those who participate. The children also have the opportunity to ride a bicycle course and upon completion, each child receives an achievement certificate. This is a fun event for all, with a serious goal – child bicycle safety. Child Identification Safeguards – An important service that is offered at special events is Child Fingerprinting. Several times a year, one or two Special Programs officers appear at local public events for the purpose of completing child fingerprint cards for your records.
