Ross Elementary Sixth-Graders Create Ancient Civilizations Museum orth Hills School District
NORTH HILLS SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
Ross Elementary sixth-grade students transformed the building into an Ancient Civilizations Museum welcoming students from throughout the building as well as family members.
As part of their social studies classes, sixth-graders learn about various cultures and time periods from throughout human existence including those in Greece, Rome, Mesopotamia, Latin America and during the Middle Ages.
To create the museum, each student chose a topic that is relevant to one of the time periods. Topics range from buildings, people, activities or objects. Students research their topics, draft essays, present to their classmates and create 3-D models that serve as a visual representation of their projects.
During the museum, student visitors stop by each exhibit and hear about the display and topic from a sixth-grade presenter before having their museum“ passport” stamped.
