North Hills Superintendent Wins Statewide Honor

North Hills School District Superintendent Dr. Patrick J. Mannarino was honored with the Pennsylvania Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development( PASCD) Supervision Award at the organization’ s annual conference in Philadelphia. Dr. Mannarino was selected for the award for his excellence as an administrator and support for professional development activities and programs that have positively impacted North Hills and its students.

During his more than 15 years at North Hills, Dr. Mannarino has designed many successful staff development programs that focus on supervisory practices and create an instructional model for staff to follow to achieve success and mastery in the classroom. He has been integral to the creation of the academic Academies at North Hills High School, the expansion and success of the Advanced Placement, College in High School and Online Academy programs, the launch of the middle school STEAM Center and the implementation of Project Connect, North Hills 1:1 iPad initiative for all sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students. He serves as the Superintendent of Record for A. W. Beattie Career Center, on the Forum for Western Pennsylvania School Superintendents, as treasurer for the WPIAL Board of Directors and as the WPIAL representative on the PIAA Board of Directors.

NHSD Sports Hall of Fame Nominations Accepted Through April 1

North Hills School District is accepting nominations for its 2017 Sports Hall of Fame. Nominations must be received no later than April 1.

This year marks the 22nd year of the establishment of the district’ s Sports Hall of Fame. Created in 1995, it honors individuals who have distinguished themselves in athletics during and / or beyond their years at North Hills High School or the former West View High School.
Current inductees have brought pride and recognition to the district’ s athletic programs and to the community as former players, coaches, administrators and supporters.
40 Ross Township because of his commitment to education and students, is an outstanding manager and an excellent leader. Schools need outstanding administrators who can both mange and lead. In my opinion, Dr. Mannarino is outstanding in both of these capacities,” said North Hills Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Assessment and Elementary Education Dr. Jeff Taylor, who nominated Dr. Mannarino for the award along with Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education Dr. Johannah Vanatta.
Dr. Mannarino has served as superintendent since 2012 and as assistant superintendent from 2010 to 2012. Prior to joining the central administrative staff, he served as principal of North Hills Senior High School for four years. He joined the North Hills School District as an assistant principal in June 2002 and was promoted to associate principal in June 2005.
He holds a doctorate in administration and policy studies from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his graduate and undergraduate studies at Slippery Rock University. Dr. Mannarino also serves as an adjunct professor for Waynesburg University and Westminster College. He resides in Beaver Falls with his wife, Tracey, and their three children.
Inductees will be announced in June and recognized during the Annual Sports Hall of Fame dinner in the fall. Former inductees are encouraged to attend. Nomination forms are available on the district’ s website www. nhsd. net or by calling the Athletics & Activities Office at 412-318-1438.
