The North Park Water Tower gets a new lease on life .

The imposing 102-foot tower known locally as the North Park Water Tower , was built in 1937 as a part of the Works Progress Administration ( WPA ), a program started by President Roosevelt to put Americans back to work during one of the harshest economic times in our country . This alone , might have made the tower worthy of thoughtful admiration . But the observation deck at the top was also adorned with a domed roof , a beautiful terrazzo floor and some rather unusual mosaic art . The mosaic tiles depicted
