25 Special Section: The Changing Face of Education
The future looks bright for our students—and not just from the
glow of their smartphones. As educators work to incorporate
new methods for teaching, students are adapting to new
methods of learning.
32 Wag-Worthy Playgrounds!
This fall, let your furry friends run free (or for a small fee) in the

On June 8, Ross/West View EMS-Rescue partnered with Ross Township DPW, Ross Township Fire Departments
and Ross Township Police to provide a full-speed reenactment of a trench rescue. Rescuers worked to identify
hazards, care for a simulated patient, stabilize an eight-foot-deep trench and rescue the patient as a demonstration
for gathering area public works officials. The training exercise served as a stark safety reminder to public works
staff who deal will trenching risks frequently—and an excellent training opportunity for rescue crews. Ross/West
View EMSA is one of just a few services to offer such specialized rescue to Ross Township, West View Borough and
surrounding communities. Pictured above (l to r): Paramedic Rescue Technicians Talo Capuzzi, Adam Caryll, Ed
Davies, Greg Porter, Steve Kline, Jason Butterfield, Mike Mitchell and Rich Biernstein along with Ross Township DPW
workers Steve Hillenbrand, Brice Stewart and Michael Boylan. See story on page 49. Photo by Eloise Peet.
