WORK
Winning Partnerships.
The School of Design actively seeks out a wide variety of
partnerships to enrich our dynamic learning environment.
We have an impressive track record of public, private and
community-based alliances in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Most often, partner projects take place in the classroom to support
and reinforce our curriculum through either short-term or year-long
projects. However, partnerships can also take the form of field
placements, applied research projects and charrettes.
Our focus with all par tner projects is to suppor t our
core learning objectives, to provide real-world work experience
for students and finally, to seek broad and lasting impact for
our outside sponsors/partners and, wherever possible, our
extended community.
If you are looking for thoughtful research, exciting new ideas and
approaches, or leading-edge communication, interactive or gaming
design services, contact us.

In the Classroom
Graphics in Motion
The Daniels Spectrum building is a cultural arts
centre in Regent Park, opened in 2012. On street
level an urban screen has been affixed to the building
at the highest traffic corner to highlight the work of
several of the centre’s tenant organizations. Our Art
and Design Foundation students created short
motion graphic sequences to be used on this screen
that creatively reflect the essence of the centre and
highlight the work of one organization in the building.

Silicones, Inc.
Well Wrapped
CSL Silicones Inc., a global leader in innovative
silicone products, approached the School of Design
with an in-class competition mandate to repackage an
anti-graffiti protective coating product. A marketing
and communications report was provided to the
young designers by University of Guelph students that
served as the basis for the design brief. The label
needed to distinguish the product in the minds of
consumers and engage the target audience with an
innovative design solution with the end goal of
increasing sales.
Two bursaries were generously awarded by CSL:
Sara Gonzales, $1,500 and Devon Millard, $1,000
