MEET OUR ALUMNI : Bonnie Synclaire is Writing Her Own Story of Success

Plum Senior High School alumna Bonnie Synclaire ( class of 2020 ) is a college student pursuing a career in healthcare administration , yet she has not let her youth get in the way of achieving a wide array of ambitions . In addition to her academic career , Synclaire has already authored 4 books .
She was drawn to stories at an early age . She recalls , “ I ’ ve had a natural love for reading and writing . I learned to read really young and I started writing stories at age 4 . It ’ s always been a passion of mine and my favorite thing to do .”
Synclaire relishes creating the first draft of a book , as she constructs an imaginary world and assembles a cast of characters . The creative thrill of an initial draft only comes after the rigorous work to complete a manuscript . “ Writing can be a very lonely profession and ultimately very vulnerable , which people don ’ t see ,” she explains . “ You think to yourself , what if no one likes my story ? Depending on what you write , it ’ s a very personal thing . They also don ’ t see how much discipline goes into finishing a draft . Sometimes the words flow effortlessly , other times you ’ re stuck and take weeks to finish one chapter . But in the end , seeing your finished novel in your hands is definitely worth it .”
The skills required for successful writing are traits she honed while a student in the Plum Borough School District . “ My
experiences at Plum helped prepare me for my professional life in many ways . I had a lot of support from faculty both in my creative and academic endeavors , helping me become the best person possible . I also want to shout out marching band ; being on the dance team for four years helped me work on discipline , stamina , teamwork , and more ,” she shares .
Bonnie Synclaire ’ s thrillers , Rogue , Incognito , Promises We Break , and Crash and Burn , are available as ebooks on Kindle / Kindle Unlimited and paperback through her website , bonniesynclaire . com . She has a forthcoming book that will be released in February 2025 .
