THE PITTSBURGH CONCERT CHORALE ANNOUNCES 2019- 2020 SEASON The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale has announced its 2019-2020 concert schedule, which celebrates 35 years of singing. “The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale has some big plans in store for our 35th anniversary season, which begins with our eighth annual Pittsburgh Sings: The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale Festival of Choirs at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. Pittsburgh Sings brings together three high school choirs from the greater Pittsburgh region in a celebration of choral music, and this year the event is offered free of charge to everyone. In December we will be joined by the Jazz Conspiracy Swingtet for A Big Band Christmas, which will offer a swinging mix of holiday favorites and sing-alongs. We’re also pleased to present our third annual Messiah Sing, a free event that invites audience members to join the PCC in singing Handel’s beloved masterpiece. A perennial audience favorite, Orff’s Carmina burana takes center stage for our spring concerts, including a special performance at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. Our audience members and singers will choose the music in our May concerts, 35 Years of Favorites. Throughout the year people are invited to submit their favorites from past seasons, and those requests will form the program for our final concerts of the season. We are so excited to celebrate our 35th anniversary, and we look forward to sharing this special season with our audiences,” Music Director Susan Medley says. The concert schedule is as follows: Big Band Christmas, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at Ingomar United Methodist Church; and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church. PCC joins forces with the Jazz Conspiracy Swingtet for Christmas music with a swing! Messiah Sing, 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at St Paul’s United Methodist Church in Allison Park. Audience members are invited to sing with the choir members, professional orchestra, and soloists to Part 1 of Handel’s masterwork. Carmina burana, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Ingomar United Methodist Church and 4 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. The epic masterpiece by Carl Orff will be performed by the PCC with Orff’s authorized arrangement for two pianos and percussion. In April, the PCC celebrates 35 years with a Gala Celebration! From a silent auction to a dessert bar, this will be an event not to be missed. Further information for this April 17 event will be posted on the website soon. 35 Years of Favorites, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, and 4 p.m. Sunday, May 3 at Ingomar United Methodist Church. The concert will feature favorite songs suggested by singers and audience members from the past 34 seasons. Individual concert tickets are available for purchase in advance or at the door. ONE-OF-A-KIND CAR DONATION PROGRAM Community Auto, part of The Lighthouse Foundation, is a nonprofit, low income car ownership program. It accepts donated cars, repairs and inspects them if necessary, then sells them to qualified working low-income people at discounted prices, as compared to a regular used car dealership. According to the organization, it is the only one of its kind in western Pennsylvania that puts cars back into the hands of families in the Greater Pittsburgh area. The used car sitting in the garage that you didn’t sell because it was a hassle, the car that didn’t get the trade-in value you wanted, or a car the kids used for school but is no longer needed would be the perfect car to donate. Your generous donation is the fuel for the program and is tax deductible. Contact Community Auto at communityautolico.org or at 724.538.5081 to find out how to donate your car and give a family a hand toward self-sufficiency. ■ 6 724.942.0940 TO ADVERTISE ❘ icmags.com
