Operation
Safe Stop
In our continuing efforts to keep our students safe as they
travel on buses to and from school, the Plum Borough School
District, in cooperation with the Plum Police Department,
participated in Operation Safe Stop aon October 19, 2016.
Operation Safe Stop is conducted in communities across
Pennsylvania each year as part of National School Bus Safety
Week. Operation Safe Stop is an awareness and enforcement
effort to educate the motoring public that passing a stopped
school bus is both dangerous and illegal. Please review
Pennsylvania’s School Bus Stopping Law below. Thank you for
joining us in our effort to eliminate illegal school bus passes
and keeping Plum students safe.

New Boro Ordinance Regarding
Bus Stops and Parking
•
All parking restricted bus stops will be clearly marked with
“parking prohibited” signs which will identify the actual
restricted parking area as well as the times of day and specific
days for the restriction.
•
No parking will be permitted within 50 feet of the bus stop
in all directions. (e.g. 50 feet in both directions for a stop in the
middle of a street; 50 feet in all four directions for a stop at a
four-way intersection).
• Parking will be restricted only on days when school is in
session and only for the following hours (6am-9am and
2pm-5pm).
•
Vehicles (whether they are
unattended or not) will not be
permitted to stop within these
restricted areas during those time
periods. A parent who wishes to
drive their child to the bus stop and
wait for the bus must stay outside of
the restricted area for those time
periods. They cannot simply drive into
the area and “drop off” their child.
• Penalty - $25.00 Parking Citation.
