ENGINEERING IN ACTION
This year, Pivik Elementary School students brought the magic of the Macy’ s Thanksgiving Day Parade to their own halls after reading the inspiring non-fiction book, Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’ s Parade by Melissa Sweet. Following the reading, the students were tasked with a fun design project: creating their very own mini-parade floats, which served as a handson lesson in art, engineering, and storytelling. For a grand finale, the students proudly displayed their finished creations in a spirited“ Balloons Over Pivik” parade that traveled through the school hallways.

Students from Holiday Park Intermediate, Plum Middle School, and Plum Senior High School participated in a memorable visit to the University of Pittsburgh’ s Nationality Rooms. Students explored the beautifully detailed rooms, learned about diverse cultures, and made connections to what they’ ve been studying in class. Their curiosity, engagement, and collaboration made the day truly special!
