Solicitation Notification

With Spring’ s arrival, door-to-door solicitation will begin to increase. Plum Borough regulates solicitors under Ordinances 914-17, which requires all solicitors to apply for a permit and be approved by the Plum Police Department. Once approved, solicitors must follow all rules outlined in the ordinance.
SPRING 2026
Authorized solicitation hours are: May 1 thru September 30, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. October 1 thru April 30, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity by calling 911. To inquire about which solicitors are permitted to canvas in your area, please
contact 412-795-6800, ext. 4302.

Springtime Traffic Safety

As spring brings more pedestrians, cyclists, and children outdoors, roadways can become busier and less predictable. Plum Police stress the importance of staying alert behind the wheel. Drive cautiously in residential areas: Children may be playing near the street or running between parked cars. Watch for Cyclists: Give cyclists plenty of space, check mirrors carefully before turning, and always look before opening car doors. Avoid distracted driving: Even a few seconds of inattention can lead to serious consequences, especially during peak outdoor activity hours.

Home Security Refresh

Inspect home entry points: Check door and window locks for damage. Winter weather can weaken or warp frames, making them easier for intruders to manipulate. Upgrade outdoor lighting: Bright, motion-activated lights can help deter nighttime activity around your home. Maintain landscaping: Trim overgrown shrubs and trees that may create hiding spots or block visibility from the street. Secure vehicles and valuables: Keep vehicles locked and store valuables out of sight to reduce the risk of theft.
