A Letter from Dr. Walsh,
SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
Dear Plum Borough Families,
As we embark on the 2026 – 27 school year, I want to extend a warm welcome to every student, family, staff member, and community partner who makes Plum Borough School District a more special place for all. Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning for another year, we are so glad you are here.
This summer has seen significant investment in our buildings and grounds, and I am excited to share some of the progress our community will see firsthand. At O’ Block Elementary, a long-anticipated new addition will be completed before we welcome students back for the new school year, bringing an updated cafeteria, a new parent pickup and drop-off area, a new playground, and a new roof— spaces designed to welcome our youngest learners with comfort and safety. At Plum Middle School, families will notice a refreshed track and field, new windows, doors, and roof, and meaningful enhancements to our security infrastructure. At Plum Senior High School, work to replace the roof over the art and TV wing ensures we are protecting the learning environments our students and staff depend on every day. These projects reflect our district’ s deep commitment to providing students with the appropriate environment to learn, while remaining thoughtful and responsible stewards of our community’ s resources.

Families can also look forward to an improved transportation experience this year. We are pleased to introduce Stopfinder, a new app that will keep parents and students informed of bus arrival and drop-off times in real time, bringing greater convenience and peace of mind to the start and end of every school day. Combined with updates to our bus and van fleet, we are committed to getting your children to and from school safely and reliably.
This year, our teachers will be working with new mathematics resources through Savvas and SuccessMaker— tools designed to deepen student understanding and build lasting confidence in this critical content area. To support this work, professional development and training will be woven throughout the 2026-27 school year, ensuring our educators are equipped to make the most of these resources for every learner.
Finally, our work with the Portrait of a Graduate continues to be a source of great pride and purpose for our district. This year, we will deepen our efforts to weave these themes, the qualities and values we aspire to cultivate in every Plum graduate, into instruction at every level. It is a reminder that our work is about so much more than content and curriculum; it is about preparing responsible, capable, and compassionate young people for the world ahead.
