The Plum Borough School District has a robust and positive culture, reflective of the character of our community. This yields many benefits for our students and staff, including an uplifting workplace that retains employees and helps teachers and staff continually grow. The district has fostered a collaborative, forwardthinking culture, where employees feel empowered to take initiative and innovate. At its core, there’ s a sense of authenticity and a drive to make a meaningful difference. This kind of culture creates an environment where people are genuinely invested, not just in their own roles but in the success of the team and the organization as a whole. This creates longevity in employees and continuity in staff. As a result, unlike several local districts, Plum doesn’ t face a significant immediate hiring need.

The Human Resources department takes a proactive approach hiring for positions that have future openings, and recently participated in the Pittsburgh Education Recruitment Consortium( PERC) job fair for the first time. PERC hosts an annual, nationally recognized job fair for employers and candidates in the field of education.“ Our booth was buzzing with activity throughout the event, and we loved having the chance to share what makes our District special. It was wonderful to connect with so many candidates and highlight the programs we’ re proud of, as well as our strong commitment to supporting both our staff and students. We were also lucky to have several administrators on hand, ready to chat and answer questions. This gave candidates a great opportunity to get the inside scoop on everything from our curriculum to class sizes— and really get to know what it’ s like to be part of our community,” says Renee Geiger, Human Resources Manager for the District. The district’ s forward-thinking approach to the professionals who serve our students is an investment in the future of the community. By offering networking opportunities, mentorships, and tuition reimbursement, the district is fostering an environment where staff can thrive and continue developing their skills. These initiatives not only help individuals grow in their careers but also contribute to the overall strength and success of the school district.
