The In Service of Seniors Snow Angels
program has expanded to more than just
snow shoveling and has launched Neighborly
Gnomes, another neighborhood-based
volunteer initiative operated by Family
Services of Western Pennsylvania’s In Service
of Seniors: Pittsburgh program. The initiative
was created as a response to the desire of
Snow Angels volunteers to continue serving
seniors and adults with disabilities in their
neighborhood throughout the spring,
summer and fall.
Neighborly Gnomes provides assistance
with outdoor tasks such as gardening, raking
leaves, trimming hedges and taking out
the trash. Services are offered to any senior
or adult with a physical disability living in
Allegheny County. For more information and
to volunteer, visit NeedsByNeighborhood.org.
