Junior Places Second with Team at SkillsUSA
Pine-Richland High School sophomore Alijah Christner earned second place and a silver medal in the national SkillsUSA Championships with the A . W . Beattie Chapter Display team in Atlanta recently . Mrs . Heather Brown , SkillsUSA advisor at A . W . Beattie , noted that only one percent of all SkillsUSA students make it to nationals . Christner participated on a team that included Marisa White from North Hills High School and Sarah Woods from North Allegheny High School .
Eden Hall Upper Elementary Students Raise $ 16,000
Sixth-grade students at Eden Hall Upper Elementary raised $ 16,000 for four different charities . Inspired by their reading of Drums , Girls and Dangerous Pie , each student researched and presented a charity , and then the biomes voted on one each . The Desert Biome raised money for the Mario Lemieux Foundation , the Forest Biome raised money for St . Jude Children ’ s Research Hospital , the Grasslands Biome raised money for the Wounded Warrior Project , and the Aquatics Biome raised money for the Alzheimer ’ s Project .

Students Win World Public Policy Forum Finals
A team of students from Pine-Richland High School bested a field of high schools from around the globe to win the 21st Annual Brewer Foundation / New York University International Public Policy Forum ( IPPF ) debate competition and a $ 10,000 grand prize . Seniors Miles Brown , Matthew Farmar , Tadg Manna , Andrew Ni , Amish Sethi and Callie Stoltz make up the 2021- 2022 Pine-Richland High School Team , under the direction of PRHS Teacher Jeff Byko . The teams that competed in the IPPF Finals on April 30 , were the final Elite Eight
Superintendent Earns Distinguished Alumni Award
Pine-Richland Superintendent Brian Miller was named a recipient of the 2022 Duquesne University School of Education Distinguished Alumni Award . Recipients of this award have demonstrated a strong track record in their respective fields and show visionary leadership and dedication to excellence . Dr . Miller was recognized on May 14 . He earned a Doctor of Education Degree from Duquesne University in May of 2009 .

The teams debated the topic : “ Resolved : On balance , the hegemony of the United States dollar is detrimental to the world economy .” In New York , Pine-Richland advanced over the Ministry of Education , Singapore , in the quarterfinal round and Amity Regional High School from Woodbridge , Connecticut , in the semifinal round , before facing Potomac Oak from Rockville , Maryland , in the finals . The top eight teams competing in the IPPF Finals represented schools in five U . S . states , Canada and Singapore . The finals allowed students to participate in oral debates in front of some
