Wexford Acting Studio Where All the World’s a Stage
W
exford Acting Studio owner Sarah McGraw has
been on stage for most of her life and passing
her knowledge of acting and musical theater
on to students professionally for 15 years.
And while the skills she teaches in her studio are exactly what
students need to get roles in school plays, musicals and talent
shows, they also apply to the real world, for college prescreens,
and even job interviews.
“My father was a director and actor, so I grew up in this
world. I got my BA & master’s degrees in acting and directing,
at The College of Wooster and Miami University respectively,
when I knew for sure that musical theater was going to be my
niche,” McGraw said. “Shows like ‘West Side Story,’ ‘Guys and
Dolls,’ ‘Cinderella,’ and ‘Evita’ suited my voice and temperament.
Once I graduated, I started
my professional career at the
Cleveland Opera, and worked
in stock, repertory, regional
theaters and eventually ended
up in international musical tours
in 17 countries.”
McGraw put down roots and opened up the Wexford Acting
Studio when the dance teacher at the Wexford Dance Academy
invited her in to teach.
The Wexford Acting Studio’s programming starts for students
age 6 and up. Training is comprised of a fun curriculum of theory
mixed in with skill-focused games and improvisations and
exercises. Private lessons are also offered. Classes are offered
once a week in each level, with a second class available each
week at no extra charge.
Right now is the perfect time to start classes because the fall
show, “High School Musical” is coming up Oct. 26-27 at Marshall
Middle School. All registered students have until the end of
August to audition for a role.
