According to the Stanford University
Psychiatry Department, one of the best
things a man can do for his health is to
be married to a woman, but one of the
best things a woman can do for her health
is to nurture the relationships with her
girlfriends.
Women with a network of friendships
tend to live longer, healthier, happier
lives. In our modern society, many women
neglect these essential relationships as
our lives become busy with school, career,
children and their activities, home and
family responsibilities. This comes at a high
price as it can be detrimental to our well
being. It is in our best interest to balance
the demands of modern life with the
support of friendships.
When Christine Mabon’s husband, Jeff,
suffered a fatal heart attack at 44 years
old, she came to realize the significance of
friendship in her life. Women came
in many sizes, shapes and colors to
support, sustain and enrich her life
in so many ways. Join us as she shares
her story about the importance of
friendship with others. You can learn

GO Green Club Green Wednesday
Film Screenings
Wednesdays, May 7, June 4, 7 p.m.
Join us for film screenings of two
environmentally-focused films. Film
selections include:
May 7: Switch (2012) Every energy resource
— fossil, nuclear and renewable — is
undergoing profound changes. And overall,
we’re gradually shifting from coal and oil to
the energies of tomorrow. But rather than
advocate for how it should happen, Switch
travels the world to discover how it most
likely will happen.
June 4: Chasing Ice (2012) The story of one
man’s mission to change the tide of history
by gathering undeniable evidence of
climate change. Using time-lapse cameras,
his videos compress years into seconds and
capture ancient mountains of ice in motion
as they disappear at a breathtaking rate.
The library’s GO Green Club’s mission is
to provide the community with educational
resources through programs, library
materials, and volunteer activities to help
create a more environmentally-friendly and
responsible lifestyle. For more information
