MANAGER’S MESSAGE
Our cover this month is a photo of a
YES (Youth Exemplifying Sportsmanship)
program, called Talking YES. This month’s
program is “Qualities in a Coach that
Motivates” YES is a Parks & Recreation Board
program that promotes good sportsmanship on
the part of the players, parents and coaches. The goal is
to make recreation sports a fun and rewarding experience
for all involved. This is achieved by setting codes of conduct,
training, and participation rules. The YES principles have
been formally woven into all sports organization bylaws. The
cover also illustrates the Community Television department
of the Township. The Township funds local access cable
programs through the cable TV franchise fee. The studio has
been in the High School and for many years. The Township
and School District have had a rewarding partnership that
has provided opportunities for students to learn technical
and artistic aspects of producing television programs. The
district provides the space and the Township developed
the studio and provides staffing through our Public Access
Director and our Volunteer and Production Coordinator. The
Cable Television department has been a key component of
the Township’s goal of transparency by airing Council and
Planning Commission meetings, as well as other special
municipal meetings. The cable department also works with
other departments to promote events such as Concerts in
the Park and the Police VOID program. The message board
promotes all Township meetings, and announcements.
The Township is proud of the services it provides both in
Community Access TV and Parks and Recreation. We believe
those programs are some of best in the region.
