PETERS TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
On Saturday , Aug . 20 , Peters Township High School opened its doors to the community . Our Student Ambassadors led more than 200 community members who came out that morning throughout the academic , athletic and fine arts wings of the school sharing interesting facts along with highlights that make our school special to the student body . Just prior to the tours , a brief dedication of the building was held to commemorate this project in our District with Board President Thomas McMurray , Superintendent Dr . Jeannine French and High School Principal Dr . Lori Pavlik making remarks to thank those who were involved in the planning , design and building of the school .
McMurray began his comments by noting several of the significant building projects that had been undertaken during his more than 38 years as a Board member , stating that this project was the best planned and well managed .
“ The expertise , cooperation , partnership and overall collegial spirit between the board , administration teachers , staff , students , community , architects , project managers and Peters Township officials and staff , bankers and so many others , set a standard so high that it will be hard to exceed or even to match for future projects , but will provide an excellent model to emulate and build on ,” McMurray said .
He further detailed the financial aspects of the project , starting with the driving guidelines including being respectful of the taxpayer ’ s resources , continued minimal annual millage impact , and holding open planning meetings to maintain transparency with teachers , staff , students , and community .
He noted that the millage impact was capped at 1.57 mills , phased in over five years with 2022-2023 being the last year to

The District was also able to take advantage of a one-day moratorium of the Plancon process with the state that resulted in a project reimbursement of more than $ 6 million . These factors were aided by the aggressive pursuit of grants and interest earnings that provided nearly $ 5 million for use on the project .
He concluded by saying “ As you walk through the school , we are sure that you will agree that the educational opportunities that are provided with the classrooms with natural lighting , learning commons , auditorium , gymnasium , natatorium and state of the art technology are something that we can be very proud of .”
