ACADEMIC HONORS
FOR PETER TOWNSHIP
STUDENTS
P
eters Township High School senior Mark McFarlin has
been named a semifinalists in the annual National Merit
Scholarship Program. Mark is among an elite group
of 16,000 students from across the nation to earn this
honor. He will now have an opportunity to continue in the
competition for National Merit Scholarships, worth more than
$33 million. Merit Scholar designees are selected on the basis
of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in
rigorous college studies.
This fall, the College Board announced the names of students
whose performance on the Advanced Placement exams earlier
this year have earned them national recognition. In all, 183 PTHS
students have earned AP Scholar Awards for their performance
in 2018 and 26 students have qualified for the prestigious
National AP Scholar Award by earning an average score of at
least four on all AP Exams and scores of four or higher on eight
or more of these exams. These students are: Julie Bocetti, Tyler
Bove, Alex Briegel, Traci Chen, William Delaney, Joseph DeWitt,
Kiera Dickey, Omar El Merhebi, Luke Gallagher, Darren Hollander,
Pratiik Kaushik, Kyle Kroboth, Garrett Langley, Paul Luniewski,
Mark McFarlin, Kyle McFerran, Nicole Munne, Tanish Rastogi,
Christian Rhen, Mekhala Santebennur, Shruthi Shivkumar,
Maxwell Smith, Elizabeth Trupiano, Benjamin Zeisloft, Joshua
Zeisloft and Wen Quan Zheng.
“We are so proud of these students,” said Principal Lori Pavlik,
“This type of recognition is the result of years of hard work and
they are very deserving of these honors.”

GROUNDBREAKING FOR
THE FUTURE
O
n July 19th, Peters Township School District
celebrated the groundbreaking for the New Peters
Township High School at the former Rolling Hills
Country Club site on East McMurray Road. This
ceremony was the culmination of more than two years of
planning for the School Board and Administration. Speaking at
the event was Superintendent Dr. Jeannine French and Board
President Mr. Thomas McMurray, whose father was also Board
President when the District broke ground for the current high
school in 1968.
