PT Library Celebrates 60 Years!
PT Library Achieves
Gold Star Status!
If you have been following the
library’s progress in the PA Forward
Star Library Program, we are happy to
report that your library reached the
Gold Star level in May 2017. PA Forward
works through five key literacies – Basic,
Information, Civic & Social, Health,
and Financial – to help all residents
in enhancing their overall quality of
life. The Star Library recognition offers
support to libraries who participate
and incorporate the literacies in their
programming activities. We are also
thrilled to report that, to date, we are
the only public library in the western
part of Pennsylvania to be awarded the
gold! Be sure to look for the PA Forward
and the five literacies logos in our library
displays and at events as we continue
to help our community members live
healthy, productive, and informed lives.
12 Peters Township
In 1957 the USSR launched Sputnik, “American Bandstand” made its television
debut, The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss was published, and the Peters Township
community got a library. Sixty years later, we are having an Open House on
Sunday, Oct. 22 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. to mark this milestone in our library’s
history! Activities will include special guests and presentations to remember
the library’s founding in 1957 by the Women’s Club of Peters Township, the
relocation of the facility to several different buildings in the township, and the
opening of the library’s present location in 1999. We will honor our Friends of
the Library organization for their dedication through the years and recognize
library staff and board members past and present. The afternoon will be filled
with free, fun, family-friendly activities including an birthday cake. Spend part
of your afternoon with us as we thank you for your many years of continued
support - we wouldn't be here without you!
