National History Day State Awards
Nine Peters Township students took part in the state level of the National History Day( NHD) competition this weekend. NHD is an opportunity for students to present historical papers, exhibits, performances, documentaries, and original website designs pertaining to an annual theme. Entries this year focused on the theme of“ Revolution, Reaction and Reform in History.” Congratulations to all of our students who participated, and to the two presentations who are moving on to the National competition in June: Hansa Gogineni, Stella Rusinko, Lily Sadowski and Alexis Strine, Grade 9, 1st Place, Senior Group Exhibit, and Frederick Schutt, Grade 7, 3rd Place, Junior Paper.
During the High School music department assembly, one student got to lead the band.
PTHS Music Visits the Elementary Schools
As a preview of the music opportunities that await them in future grades, the High School Orchestra and Band visited the elementary schools to perform for 1st-3rd grades. The HS students introduced each instrument and played a small sample so the elementary students could get a feel for the range and style of each option.
District Hosts Online Gaming Safety Presentation
More than 75 members of our community attended the online safety seminar at Peters Township Middle School on April 9th. The State Police talked with parents and students in attendance about gaming and online safety. This presentation is designed to help parents and community members better understand the online environments children are using today, with a focus on Roblox and other social platforms.
Decade Dress Up Day at McMurray
Continuing their celebration of music across the decades, March 19 was Decade Dress Up Day at McMurray. Staff and students picked their favorite decade and pulled out all the stops- from tie dye to poodle skirts, and Run DMC bucket hats to 80s leg warmers. Earlier in the month, our talented music teachers played music for the students during arrival to kick off the event.
PMEA All-State Honors
Congratulations to our PTHS students who represented the District’ s Music Department at the Pennsylvania Music Educators’ Association( PMEA) All-State Festival. Adam Eliker( All-State A Cappella), Ava Chismar( All-State Choir) and Edward Kim( All-State Concert Band) attended the All-State Festival in late-April.
Jeff the Geode Guys Visits Bower Hill
Our Bower Hill 2nd graders were ROCKED by their visit from Jeff the Geode Guy in March! Jeff detailed his journey to a geode mine in Mexico where he climbs down a long ladder to the underground tunnels where the geodes are. What an interesting presentation for our students! They also had the chance to check out some samples and have him crack open a geode for them to take home.
Media Students at the Myron Cope Awards
High School Media Honors
The Media Department participated in the Myron Cope Awards, hosted by Point Park University. We are proud to congratulate these talented students for their awards for best High School sports broadcast show, as well as honors for sports segments, podcasts and sports social media.
Taste of Green at Bower Hill
Students in Mrs. Dyer’ s, Mrs. Gallagher’ s, and Mrs. McMullen’ s classes participated in a Taste of Green on St. Patrick’ s Day. Each student brought in a green fruit or vegetable to share. As part of the activity, students discussed the foods they sampled and created fractions to show which green foods they liked and did not like. They also compared and contrasted two of the foods they tried and graphed the class favorites. Best of all, they enjoyed a big buffet of healthy green foods!
PTHS FBLA Honors
Seven students represented PTHS at the 2026 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference and Competition. Students attended various business-related workshops and competed in one competitive event during their time at the conference. Two students from PTHS placed in the top 10 in their event, qualifying them to move on to the national level of competition. Congratulations to Sashrika Sharma, Introduction to Marketing Concepts – 1st Place, and Connor Seaman, Marketing- 2nd Place.
The Little Mermaid at PTHS
In April our PTHS Thespians staged The Little Mermaid for delighted audiences. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew of this under the sea adventure! Students also performed in a series of one act plays in early May as they completed another wonderful year of shows at the High School. eters Township
