students, and how this could lead to new course offerings for the school.”
Working alongside organizations like Simmons Farm and Penn State Extension, the District is able to offer students meaningful, hands-on experiences that extend far beyond the classroom.
“ These collaborations not only bring valuable expertise into our schools, but also allow our students to build real-world skills, explore new career interests, and gain confidence in their abilities,” added Dr. French.
Just as with Coffee Tree Roasters, it is these partnerships that turn ideas into impactful opportunities and open doors for students today and into the future.

Superintendent Wins Distinguished Educator Award

Dr. Jeannine French, superintendent of the Peters Township School District, is the recipient of the 2026 Dr. Jean E. Winsand Distinguished Woman in Education Award.

The award is presented annually to a woman who has made a“ significant impact and positive difference” throughout her career. It recognizes exemplary leadership and service to others through activities and initiatives.
Dr. French received the award during the Tri-State Area School Study Council’ s Dr. Jean E. Winsand Workshop for Women in School Leadership at the University of Pittsburgh on April 10th with distinguished educators from throughout our region in attendance.
Nominated for the award by Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Murphy, Dr. French was honored for the decades she spent shaping educational systems with courage and compassion. From her early beginnings in the City of Pittsburgh to her transformative leadership as Superintendent in Peters Township, where she navigated a global pandemic, the construction of a state-of-the-art high school, and contract negotiations all without losing focus on doing the best for all students.
“ Dr. French is a leader in the trenches, who never seeks the spotlight,” said Dr. Murphy.“ But her character and wisdom have shaped our schools and community, and we wanted to recognize her and acknowledge her tremendous contribution.”
In her remarks accepting the award French reminded the educators in the room that while sometimes the negativity in our world can seem overwhelming,“ positive change happens at the speed of care.”
Thank you, Dr. French, for the care and support you have given to our Peters Township Schools and community.
