U . S . News Ranking Ranks PTHS # 1
Peters Township High School has ranked first in the Pittsburgh Metro Area in the U . S . News and World Report high school rankings . Schools are ranked based on their performance on state-required tests , graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college . PTHS is also ranked 7th in Pennsylvania ( top 1 % in the state ) and 412th in the Nation ( top 2 % in the nation ) according to the report .
Habitat Tour at Bower Hill
Second graders at Bower Hill created a Habitat Museum . The students displayed their animal dioramas that they created following their research on animal habitats . The Museum was organized according to the various habitats that can be found across the globe and tour guides answered question and showed off favorites among their classmates work for staff members who toured the display .
PTA Reflections Art Awards
Congratulations to our students who have been recognized at the State Level in the PTA Reflections Art Contest . Award of Excellence winners are the 1st place finishers in their category and will now advance to the National level . They are : Visual Arts - Sophia Landis , PTHS ; Literature - Theodore Allison , PTHS ; and Music - Ashley Berner , PTHS .
Programming Robots at McMurray
In April students at McMurray used the coding skills they learned this year to program robots . Fourth graders used the Snap ! block-coding platform to program Finch robots and 5th grade students coded both Finch robots and Ozobots , which use the Ozoblockly platform . Both robots were programmed to move , perform light effects , and even make sounds !
PTHS Media Awards
The High School Media Department recently competed in the 30th annual Digital Media Arts Consortium held at Robert Morris University . Join us in recognizing these students who earned awards for their work ! Pleasant Valley STEM Night
Pleasant Valley ’ s annual Family STEM Night was a huge success ! Students and families filled the gymnasium taking part in stations of hands-on activities and fun . The event was organized by 3rd grade teacher Mary Beth Barnes .
Bower Hill Yoga Bees Support Pet Rescue
The Bower Hill Yoga Bees were back in session promoting kindness in our community ! Their projects this spring included making blankets for the South Hills Pet Rescue and sharing thank you notes and treat bags with our BH Heroes ( nurses , custodians , lunch monitors , recess monitors , secretaries , cafeteria workers , and principals )!
PTMS Flight 93 Memorial Visit
PTMS 8th graders visited the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville on Friday . This trip has become a PTMS tradition and was provided at no cost thanks to a scholarship from Friends of Shanksville .
McMurray Supports Kentucky School Along with the $ 1,811 raised from the McMurray Family Painting Party in February , McMurray students donated eight boxes of hats , gloves , scarves , pants , shirts , and jackets to the victims of the December tornados in Mayfield , KY . These efforts were organized by the McMurray Student Council .
Mental Health Speaker at PTHS

Peters Township alumna , Julia Broglie , visited PTHS today to talk with our students about mental health . Julia ’ s presentation “ From Inner Pieces to Inner Peace ,” emphasizes the importance of daily self-care and stress relief practices to build mental resilience . She reminded the students that “ Not everyone will have mental illness , but everyone does have mental health and will face challenges and adversities in their lives .” eters Township
