Michael and Patricia ( Fleck ) Kavic are second-generation Americans , with their families originating in Serbia and Italy . Their ancestors brought with them the art of winemaking , but also the joy of sharing it with family and friends , which sustained them during hard times as steel and railroad workers . The Kavics continued the tradition , making wine at home for years before deciding to go public with their skills and offer them to the community . The winery uses only Pennsylvania and locally produced grapes and has a vineyard in Oakdale . Michael and Patricia hope to open the vineyard to visitors soon , but you can taste the fruits of their efforts with their Marquette-derived wine at the urban-style winery .
