RESIDENTS MAY SIGN UP FOR NO KNOCK LIST
Door-to-door sales are permitted in Peters Township , subject to the rules and regulations detailed in the Solicitation Ordinance . This ordinance was recently updated , and it now provides Peters Township residents the option to sign up for a “ No Knock List .”
WHAT IS THE “ NO KNOCK LIST ”?
As a resident , you can now choose NOT to have solicitors knock on your door in the course of their door-to-door sales .
I DO NOT WANT SALESPEOPLE KNOCKING ON MY DOOR . HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR THIS LIST ?
Peters Township residents may sign up for the No Knock List through the Peters Township website . You may click on the news item on the homepage ( peterstownship . com ), go to peterstownship . com / police , or go directly to peterstownship . com / noknocklist . Follow the links to complete the online form , hit submit , and you will be added to the list !
HOW LONG WILL MY PROPERTY BE ON THE LIST ? Your property will be on the list for five years .
WILL I HAVE TO RE-APPLY IN THE FUTURE ? Yes , you will have to re-apply every five years . WHAT INFORMATION WILL BE SHARED WITH VENDORS ?
Vendors will only receive your address and the date you signed up for the list . You are able to see the same list that vendors receive by clicking on the View the No Knock List ( PDF ) link on the website . This list will be continually updated as new residents sign up . Your name and e-mail will not be shared with anyone outside the Peters Township Police Department .
A VENDOR KNOCKED ON MY DOOR EVEN THOUGH MY PROPERTY IS ON THE NO KNOCK LIST . WHAT DO I DO ?
Call 911 immediately if a vendor has knocked on your door and / or violated the Solicitation Ordinance . Calling 911 will ensure an officer can respond promptly to the area and investigate the issue while the vendor is still in Peters Township .
DOES THE NO KNOCK LIST APPLY TO THOSE ADVOCATING RELIGIOUS , CHARITABLE , OR POLITICAL CAUSES ?
No , the No Knock List is designed to prohibit for-profit salespeople from knocking at your door . Groups such as the Girl Scouts , Boy Scouts , and individuals advocating charitable , religious , civic , and political causes are exempt from having to follow the no knock list .
