Terrarium Garden
Demonstration
Tuesday, June 21, 7 to 8:45 p.m.
Cost: $5
Instructor: Nancy Vejlstrup, Exhibit Designer for Phipps Conservatory, Carnegie
Science Center and Carnegie Museum of Natural History
Come and be inspired by one of the hottest trends in tabletop gardening!
You’ll learn how to create a world in miniature, inspired by nature for your
enjoyment both indoors or out. The Miniature Garden Demonstration will
feature choosing a theme for your garden (i.e. “Fairy Garden” or “Woodland
Garden”, etc.), selecting the right container, locating supplies (either by foraging
outdoors or in your local craft store!), and choosing the correct mosses and
plants. The Terrarium Garden Demonstration will focus on how to plan a garden
“under glass,” the special considerations to keep in mind while designing a
terrarium garden and how a super miniature effect can be created!
Participants in both classes will receive handouts and information to enable
them to create their own gardens at home. All garden examples made during
the classes will be auctioned off at the end of class to benefit the library.
