McMurray Career Day presenters share their experience with our students.
MCMURRAY CAREER DAY
December 12 was Career Day at McMurray Elementary with our 4th and 5th grade students rotating through a variety of career presentations throughout the morning. Among the professionals present were an engineer, veterinarian, pilot, nurse, attorney, and yoga studio owner. Many thanks to the parents and community volunteers who gave their time to share their career journey with the students!
PERSONAL WELLNESS CPR LESSON
PTHS freshmen in Personal Wellness learn how to make a real difference in an emergency. As part of their CPR / AED / First Aid Instruction Unit, students practiced how to perform CPR on adults, children, and babies— and learned how to properly use an AED machine. Those who successfully demonstrated their skills even earned official certification through a partnership with the PT Fire Department. Personal Wellness is a required course for all freshmen at PTHS.

PLEASANT VALLEY ECON FAIR
Pleasant Valley kids and adults finished up their Holiday shopping at the 3rd Grade Econ Fair in December. Students created unique items for their store and learned how to market them to their classmates, including making their own commercials. As the culmination, students had a chance to shop in each other’ s stores and enjoy the benefit of all that creativity.

THE GIFT OF READING AT BOWER HILL
Third graders at Bower Hill visited 1st grade classrooms in December to give the gift of reading. Students shared a favorite book and brought along props to help illustrate setting and plot in their story. This collaboration helps to encourage of love of reading with our youngest students.
SPANISH ALUMNI GUESTS AT PTHS
Each year, High School Spanish teacher Caitlyn Ulf invites alumni from her Spanish classes to come back and share how they are using their language skills in college and beyond! In December, graduates from as far back as 2010 shared their experiences about using Spanish speaking skills to converse with clients in a construction supply business, to talk with patients in a doctor’ s office, and even to conduct an international wine business. Current students and staff loved hearing what PT alumni are doing and how their time in PT has helped them on their journey.
POLAR EXPRESS VISITS PT
The PT Polar Express is a Kindergarten tradition in our District with elementary kids( and staff!) in their pajamas lining the hallways to cheer on the youngest students as they make their way to a storybook telling of the classic holiday tale. Mr. C and Mr. T at Pleasant Valley and Bower Hill respectively were the conductors who led the train of students through the school with classmates cheering and singing holiday songs. This tradition is always a special part of the holidays in the schools.
