PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

Most of our programs are in-person events . We have a few Zoom options for book clubs and computer classes . So library staff can prepare accordingly , please visit the library events calendar at ptlibrary . org to register for our free programs or call 724.941.9430 # 1 .
SEED EXCHANGE Saturday , Feb . 18 , 10 to 11 a . m . Seed set-up begins at 10 a . m . Multi-Purpose Room , 1st floor Seed swaps are an excellent opportunity to save money , reduce waste , discover new varieties , and share with fellow gardeners . Bring your garden and flower seeds to the library and swap will fellow gardeners this winter . Discover new varieties this spring and share tips and tricks with others . Please make sure the seeds are labeled and free of debris . The library will provide envelopes and other materials to help facilitate this swap . Participants can arrive at 10 a . m ., set up their seeds , walk around and peruse the selection . If you do not have seeds to swap , please refrain from coming until 10:30 a . m ., so those who brought seeds can swap first . You must register to participate .
AFTERNOON BINGO FOR SENIORS & CAREGIVERS Tuesdays , Feb . 7 & March 7 , 1 to 2 p . m . Multi-Purpose Room , 1st floor Have some fun playing everyone ’ s favorite game -- BINGO ! Join us on the first Tuesday of the month for bingo and other games with Michelle May from Senior Life Washington . Prizes for winners and fun for all ! Registration is required and limited to 20 participants . No Bingo in April .
DIY VALENTINE ’ S VASE & BOUQUET For adults and teens Tuesday , Feb . 7 , 6:30 to 7:30 p . m . Multi-Purpose Room , 1st floor Make a festive vase and bouquet for yourself or a loved one . We will provide all materials you need to paint your vase and make your bouquet - bring your creativity ! There is no cost to attend , but registration is required to reserve your seat for this in-person program . We are accepting 20 participants in this program .
“ THE END GAME ” CHESS CLASSES For adults 18 and up Wednesday , Feb . 8 & March 8 , 1:30 to 3:30 p . m . Reading Room , 2nd floor Are you a chess player looking to improve your skills and learn from a championship player ? The library will welcome former chess champion and grandmaster Pete Vuljanic to offer chess instruction for players aged 18 and up . To join this free class , you must understand how to play the game and move each piece . This class is not suitable for tournament-level players . Registration is required and limited to 10 participants . Please register online at ptlibrary . org or call 724.941.9430 ext . 3260 . Chess enthusiasts can also check out boards and pieces at the Information Desk on the 2nd floor for use within the library .
JAMES HERRIOT : THE SIMPLE LIFE OF THE WORLD ’ S MOST FAMOUS VETERINARIAN Monday , Feb . 13 , 7 p . m . via Zoom Join Claire Evans , Anglophile and former UK resident , as she recounts the life and times of Alf Wight . An unassuming country veterinarian , Wight practiced for 50 years in one of England ’ s most beautiful places , the Yorkshire Dales . He rose to international fame later in life under the pen name James Herriot . He recounted the heartwarming animal stories and colorful characters of a bygone era , inspiring a film and multiple television series . Bask in the visual beauty of Claire ’ s recent Yorkshire Dales visit and learn the surprising story of the vet whose books still entertain millions . CRAFT SWAP Saturday , Feb . 18 , 1 to 3 p . m . Multi-Purpose Room , 1st floor Yarn , beads , and paint - OH MY ! If you have dabbled in various crafts , you may have built up quite the collection , whether you intended to or not . Clear those shelves and find your next great hobby at our craft swap ! Donations can be dropped off at the library Wednesday through Friday , or you can bring them on the day of the swap . Craft guidelines : Fabric must be clean and dry . Tools and machines should be in good working condition . Glues , ink pads , and markers should not be dry or crusty . Papers ( scrapbooking paper or books ) should be clean and free of water damage . We do not require registration for this program . Although it is strongly encouraged , you do not have to drop off materials to come to the swap Saturday . Any leftover materials will be left for the library to distribute or use . eters Township
