PRESERVING YOUR PAST PROTECTING YOUR FUTURE

As an Elder Law attorney for more than 20 years , I have witnessed countless stories of families losing their homes and life savings due to long-term care costs . In most cases , these families were completely unprepared for a future health crisis and planning had not even been contemplated . With the average monthly cost of nursing home care in Pennsylvania exceeding $ 13,000 per month , one can easily understand how paying for long-term care can be financially devastating . However , dire consequences do not have to happen . Most problems arise because individuals lack the awareness and knowledge to seek out and receive help .

After years of meeting with individuals who were adversely affected by misinformation , I felt compelled to write “ Preserving Your Past ~ Protecting Your Future : Why Planning with an Elder Law Attorney is Essential to Protecting Assets from Long-Term Care Costs .” My goal was to help educate those who serve in trusted financial advisory roles or similar relationships with seniors , as well as their families , on the ever-expanding and important area of Elder Law . When describing the role of an Elder Law attorney , I often refer to it as an estate planning attorney
