In 2013 , long-term friends and colleagues Gregory Weimer and
Jim Wilding decided to start a different type of financial planning partnership , one that meets people where they are and helps them to meet realistic goals while enjoying the process along the way .
As of January 2021 , Confluence Financial Partners manages over $ 2 billion in 40 states and has grown its staff substantially to help even more clients than ever before .
“ We look forward to helping everyone we can ,” Weimer said . “ We have higher net worth clients , but we can add value to the lives of clients no matter what their financial situation or background . Our niche is nice people . We have a client bias and everything we do is in their best interests .”

Putting the client first means that Confluence Financial Partners is an independent wealth management company , meaning you will never be pigeonholed into a financial vehicle or investment simply because it ’ s the product the company supplies . There are also strict conflict-of-interest policies in place barring advisors from accepting meals , golf outings or any other in-kind activity that could be perceived as influencing their recommendations for their client base .
“ It ’ s a subtle difference , but it ’ s night and day ,” according to Weimer . “ We listen to our clients first and figure out what they ’ re all about . Money is just money until it has a purpose , whether that purpose is to build a legacy for your children , buy a retirement home in Florida or to meet any other goal a client may have . Once we find a client ’ s true north , we can then build them a full financial plan and bring every aspect of financial health into one place to determine the best direction to help them obtain their goal .”
A large part of Confluence Financial Partners ’ strategy is focused on communicating with the client and ensuring that the client is fully vested in the journey . Weimer explained that simply meeting goals for clients isn ’ t what Confluence wants to be known for .
“ If we get a client to their destination financially , but they didn ’ t enjoy it along the way , then we missed the mark ,” he said . “ We want every client to enjoy the journey . Sure , there will be bumps in the market like we saw last March , but when a client has a plan , you can weather that turbulence and not have to worry .”
Outside of the office , Weimer and his family are active members of St . Louise de
Marillac Church . He sits on the board of the new South Hills Catholic Academy and is on the Board of Trustees of the Children ’ s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation . He also served as Vice-Chairman of Washington City Mission , chairing the committee that built The Patriot House , a 22-bed shelter for homeless veterans .
