KEN BURN’S THE VIETNAM WAR: A PANEL
DISCUSSION
Monday, April 9, 7 p.m.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Tet
Offensive and to delve more deeply into our
veterans’ experiences and perspectives, members
of the Veterans Breakfast Club will hold a panel
discussion of Ken Burns’ landmark series “The
Vietnam War.” The panel will feature four Vietnam
veterans and will be moderated by Todd DePastino.
Todd DePastino is founder and executive director of
the Veterans Breakfast Club, a 501(c)(3) non‑profit
dedicated to sharing veterans’ stories with the public. Over 7,000 different
people have participated in the Veterans Breakfast Club’s programs over the
past ten years . Todd is the author of the award winning Bill Mauldin: A Life
Up Front and six other books. He has a Ph.D. in American History from Yale
University and has taught at several places, including Waynesburg University
where in 2008 he won the Lucas-Hathaway Award for Teaching Excellence.

GLOBAL CHALLENGES AND U.S. NATIONAL SECURITY STRATEGY
Thursday, Feb. 15, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The library in partnership with World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh hosts the
United States Army War College. During this event, senior officers representing
several branches of the United States military will address various national
security issues and the role that the military plays in responding to these
challenges. Following the presentations by the visiting officers, guests will have
the opportunity to engage in discussions with the officers on these issues and
on global security topics.
