Social studies students had a chance to check out a classic Model T that was 111 years old.
FORD MODEL T DEMONSTRATION FOR 8TH GRADE
Our 8th grade social studies students had a blast from the past in October with a ride in a 111 year old Ford Model T- complete with the crank start, wooden wheels, and air horn( that cost about $ 450 new!) Thanks to our guests from the 3 River Ford Model A Club, our students learned about the Ford Model T and the later Model A as they studied these innovations in our nation ' s history.

NATIONAL MERIT COMMENDED STUDENTS
Eleven students from PTHS have been named Commended Students in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These students are: Ella Andeits, Gianni Bonanno, Nathan Brula, Chelsie Clydesdale, Avery DeSaw, August Glover, Emily King, Isaac Lee, Connor Seaman, Grant Skillings and Leo Yu. The students above are among 34,000 of the highest scorers on the PSAT / NMSQT in the nation and will receive a Letter of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.
MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT
The PTHS Quarterback Club hosted a wonderful Military Appreciation Night in October honoring our veterans on the field and presenting the a check for more than $ 2500 to McMurray VFW Post 764 from the proceeds of their shirt sales. In support of the event, our McMurray students also took time to make cards for Veterans. Students wrote personal notes with thanks, wishes for safety and one even included a“ dad joke” to make them smile.
VISITING FRENCH STUDENTS AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL
Students from Cordouan High School in Royan, France visited Peters Township and they stopped by PTMS to talk with our Middle School French students about life in their school compared to America. The students also had a chance to visit informally and try out their French / English conversation skills as they got to know more about each other.
PMEA HONORS ORCHESTRA
Three students from Peters Township High School were selected by competitive audition to take part in the District 1 Honors Orchestra on November 15 – 16 at North Allegheny School District. Senior Ava Chismar( violin), sophomore Maggie Snyder( violin) and freshman Hansa Gogineni( bass) attended with other student musicians from throughout the 5-county area.
PMEA MUSIC HONORS
PTHS senior Edward Kim( Oboe) has successfully auditioned into the PMEA District 1 Honors Band Festival that was held at North Hills Middle School on November 21-23. In addition, Edward will be joined by Roy Wang( Alto Saxophone), Evan Kim( Trumpet) and Ryan Falls( Trombone) for the PMEA Sr. High District 1 West Band Festival that will be held in February.
APPLE CRUNCH DAY
Many classes at Bower Hill celebrated Apple Crunch Day in October. This celebration of healthy eating and local farmers encourages students to bite into a locally grown apple simultaneously to celebrate healthy food and support local agriculture. In Mrs. Willkomm’ s class,

The annual teacher race at the end of Walkathon featured Dr. French this year!
MIDDLE SCHOOL WALKATHON

Leading up to the Middle School Walkathon, students collected pledges, purchased raffle tickets, participated in penny wars and other fun activities to support the annual walk. The event also included homeroom relay races for the chance to take on Mr. Sikorski’ s teacher team. Overall the middle school raised $ 14,359.39 for PTA activities throughout the year. eters Township
