ELF ON THE SHELF KICKOFF For Pre-K to Grade 3 Thursday , December 12 , 6:30 to 7:15 p . m . Get ready to welcome our library elf for the 2024 holiday season ! Join us for crafts , activities , stories and a special chance to name our elf .
PITTSBURGH ZOO PRESENTS : FURRY FRIENDS For Ages 3 to 5 Tuesday , December 17 , 10 to 10:45 & 11 to 11:45 a . m . Preschoolers will learn about the basic needs and adaptations of mammals , while being gently introduced to some furry friends from the zoo . This program will be offered at 10 and again at 11 ; please only register your child for one event .
AMERICAN GIRL PJ PARTY For Ages 5 to 10 Thursday , January 16 , 6:30 to 7:30 p . m . Wear your PJs and bring your doll ( she can wear her PJs too !) and join us for cocoa , crafts and stories featuring the beloved American Girl characters .
PRESCHOOL-A-PALOOZA For the whole family Saturday , January 18 , 10 to 11:30 a . m . Our annual Preschool-a-Palooza is returning to the library ! Come out to visit area preschools and daycares . NEW ! BEGINNER CHESS * For Grades 1 to 6 Second Monday of the month , 6:30 to 7:30 p . m . Our local chess expert will be sharing basic chess play techniques and skills , such as how chess pieces move , how to set up the board , how to castle and how to promote pawns .
TUESDAYS NEW ! INTERMEDIATE CHESS * Third Tuesday of the month , 6:30 to 7:30 p . m . This class is for players who already know the basics of chess .
WEDNESDAYS WILD KRATT WEDNESDAY For Pre-K and up Second Wednesday of the month , 12:15 to 12:45 p . m . Bring a bag lunch and picnic as you watch nature unfold with the Kratt brothers on the big screen .
THURSDAYS NIGHT WITH WQED ** For the whole family Second Thursday of the month , 6:30 to 7:30 p . m . Join us for a beloved PBS show , activities and a story , sponsored by Clearview Federal Credit Union .
SENSORY STORYTIME ** For ages 3 to 6 , with a caregiver Third Thursday of the month , 10 to 10:30 a . m . Led by a pediatric occupational therapist , this inclusive , welcoming program will include a story , songs , movement , fun sensory input and more !
AMERICAN GIRL BOOK CLUB For Grades 2 to 4 Third Thursday of the month , 6:30 to 7:15 p . m . Join us each month for a book club featuring books from the American Girl series ! Please note that the January book club will be replaced by an American Girl PJ party .
