The competition , which started in 2015 to fulfill a resident ’ s passion for the game , is now a Saturday staple . The bag tossing is not taken lightly . Competitors track weekly wins with simple prizes for first , second and third , and overall wins are tracked annually .
After a short pandemic hiatus , participants were eager to restart , bolstering the 27 feet needed to play with added safety protocols . Competitors stand across from each other with two angled boards and dueling sets of 14-ounce bags . The hope is to sink as many as possible into a hole in the board . Or , at least , knock your competitor ’ s bag off .
Cornhole , popularized in the late 90 ’ s , regained traction in the past decade . The game is a family-friendly activity that draws in players of all ages . For residents at Providence Point , it ’ s a Saturday activity that ’ s as familiar and energizes like morning coffee .
