Tweens are 9 through 13 years old. Check out our programs designed especially with you in mind!
Tween Book Club
Boys and girls in Grades 3 through 6 Third Monday of the Month 4 to 4:45 p. m.
Stop over after school for a special book club just for TWEEN boys and girls! Join us for discussion and fun activities based on these great tween books. Dec. 18: Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson Jan. 15: Wishtree by Katherine Applegate
Tween Crafternoons
The First Tuesday of the Month 3 to 5 p. m.( stop in any time)
Join us for a special craft in the Teen Room.
Maker Mondays
First Monday of the month 4 to 4:45 p. m.
Bring your friends to Maker Mondays, a hands-on, self-directed learning workshop. Each session will have a different project or game that will be a collaborative effort within a group.
Dec. 4: Maker Monday featuring PBS KIDS ScratchJr
In honor of Computer Science Education Week kids and tweens all over the country will be participating in an Hour of Code™ event. Our Maker Monday group will be learning computer coding basics using the PBS KIDS ScratchJr app. Devices and materials will be provided. This program is being held in partnership with WQED and our Inquire Within grant funded by EQT Corporation.
Jr. Students Active for Environment( SAFE) Club
Grades 4 through 8 Second and Fourth Mondays of the Month Immediately after school until 5 p. m.
Learn more about the beautiful planet we call home by joining our Jr. SAFE Club. Assisted by members of the PTHS SAFE Club, every session will explore a different environmental theme or issue. We’ ll have lots of fun, hands-on activities while learning about our world.

Sculpey Clay
Ages: 6 ½ to 13 4 weeks, Jan. 9 through 30 Tuesdays, 4 to 5:30 p. m. Limit: 15 children Cost: $ 20 plus supplies

Elf on the Shelf Kick-off
Thursday, Nov. 30 6:30 to 7:15 p. m.
Join us for a story, craft, treat, and movie as we kick-off the Elf on the Shelf season. After the program on November 30, visit the Children’ s Department to hunt for the Elf. Discover what he is reading and enter a drawing for a gift basket. For all ages and families!
Edible Holiday Treats
Thursday, Dec. 7 6:30 to 7:15 p. m.
Come make some yummy holiday treats and enjoy a special holiday story!
Family Ornament Night
Monday, Dec. 11 6:30 to 7:15 p. m.
Add some sparkle to the holidays and your gift giving with a special handmade ornament.
PAWS for Reading
Ages: Preschool and up Saturday Jan. 13 10 to 11:20 a. m.
Visit with a registered therapy dog to gain self-confidence and fluency by reading to these attentive animals. Sign up for your 20-minute slot. They fill up fast!
Wild Kratts Wednesdays
Every Wednesday, Noon to 12:30 p. m.
Bring a bag lunch and join us every Wednesday to view a new or loved Wild Kratts episode. On some weeks, special giveaways will be available thanks to our partnership with WQED and our Inquire Within grant funded by EQT Corporation.
Family Movie Nights
For kids of all ages with a parent or caregiver. Third Thursday of the Month, 6:45 p. m. until movie is over. Movies are rated G or PG Dec. 21: The Search for Santa Paws Jan. 18: Despicable Me 3
A Night with WQED
Second Thursday of the Month 6:30 to 7:30 p. m.
Enjoy a special family storytime featuring WQED / PBS Kids characters! Crafts, stories, and a special episode of loved PBS kids show will be featured. Every child will also receive a special giveaway thanks to our partnership with WQED and our Inquire Within grant funded by EQT Corporation. Dec. 14: Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas Jan. 11: Odd Squad, featuring a special sneak peek PREMIERE of the new Odd Squad movie,“ World Turned Odd”.
